Your Texas hog hunting will consist of both spot and stalk hunting as well as hunting from blinds. During your spot and stalk hunting adventure, you will be tracking your game in native pecan bottoms, old oak forests, and among majestic mesquite trees. During times of plentyful rain, your game will be hiding in our deep native grasslands. You must always be prepared , as it is common to get within 5-10 feet of a pack of hogs hiding in the  brush. Many hunters have brought back stories of walking up on 10-20 hogs and being so startled, they never raised their gun during the scatter!

After dinner at sundown, you will be taken back into the interior of the ranch, for what some "not so brave souls" have called, a night of hair-raising action! Many nights are greeted by the sounds of howling coyotes from every possible direction. Bring your rifles, bring your pistols, and if all else fails, have your bowie knife ready! During your night hunt, you may see many exotic animals, but don't get too entertained, because when the hogs move in, it can be fast and furious!

You will want to move your spotlight to the edge of the forest, as you never know what may be watching you! Not only do the big hogs move under the cover of night, but you never know what type of cat may be out on the prowl!  Call them in, and take a trophy of a lifetime!  On a quiet, windless night, many hunters have reported the forest to be as loud with wild game as a busy city street. More than a few hunters have lost their nerve to hunt the wilds of our moonlit wilderness! The record for lost nerve at night is but a short 20 minutes!

Reveille is about an hour before sunrise.  this will give you time for a quick cup of coffee, and time to trade stories of your previous night's adventure with your fellow hunters.  During your spot and stalk, you will be back in the fields tracking your game.  Early mornings are greeted with the bugling of the elk, or the distant cracking sounds of our trophy ram butting heads for dominance.  During your morning adventure, you will encounter many species of trophy game, such as majestic axis and fallow deer, huge red stags, bison buffalo, and graceful Texas blackbuck, just to name a few.  At this point, your hunt is only half-way through!  If you think the first half of your hunt was awesome, wait until your second night!  If you survived the first night, you may be ready for what awaits you in the darkest recesses of your second night's adventure!  Hunting after dark has produced some of the biggest trophies ever taken on the ranch!

For those that have survived up to the last morning, there is yet more to experience for those that want more. Ask about the "The Dead Mans Hunt", and hear of some of the early settlers that never made it out alive!  For those that must leave, checkout is on the third day, but for those that can stay, the next adventure is just over the next ridge!

THE LODGE

Our main lodge is located at 9491 Highway 97 East, Gonzales, Gonzales County, Texas 78629, approximately 75 miles SE of Austin.  The main lodge consists of 265 acres that is game-fenced, with exotic animals and wild hogs present.  Most hog hunts take place at this location.

When available and when booked in advance, additional ranches located in Gonzales County, Texas and/or Fayette County, Texas can be hunted for a trespass fee of $49/hunter/ranch.  Additional kill fees of $100.00/hog apply, with no additional trophy fees for larger hogs.
The javelina, bobcat, and whitetail deer hunts we offer occur in South Texas near Laredo, which features different ranches ranging in size from 500 to 1500 acres and are both game fenced and free-range hunts.

THE HUNT

Hunts begin at 3:00pm on any day of the week and each last 46 hours.  Check-out time is at 1:00pm on the third day.  All hunts are subject to availability.

Our hog hunts are not fully guided, but rather semi-guided.  This means your guides will drop you off and pick you up from the blinds, pick up your game, and advise you on the best hiding places to find hogs on your spot and stalk. Some hunters prefer to drive their own vehicle to the blind, and this is allowed.
We do offer fully guided hunts for exotics, unless other arrangements are made.

THE GAME

HOGS:  The hogs range in type from wild, feral, domestic to any combination of the three. The ferociousness of these animals varies throughout any given year or season.  Sizes of hogs also vary, ranging from newborn to mature adults of 100+ lbs.  The hog densities are  sufficient for the number of hunters present to take their bag limit.  There is no guarantee of the size of hogs you will shoot as this is a hunt.

VARMINTS: Hunting predators and varmints is an extra activity that is not priced into any package and is provided at no charge.  Varmints include, but are not limited to Bobcat, Coyote, Fox, Possum, Armadillo, Racoon, Rabbit, Ringtail CatOnce again, there are no guarantees of harvest success with any native predator or varmint.  Success is based on conditions such as weather, time of year, breeding cycles, hunter skill (or lack thereof), and of course, luck.

MEALS

Meals are provided by the ranch staff. The exact menu can vary, but usually includes five (5) meals during your hunt. The meals consist of two (2) dinners of different meats, sides, and non-alcoholic drinks.  For lunch, we serve cold cut sandwiches, chips and a drink. We offer typically two (2) breakfasts, consisting of traditional eggs, gravy, biscuits, and meat. Sometimes, a different hot breakfast is served, such as Mexican tacos or breakfast burritos. On the last morning of the hunt we usually serve a continental breakfast.

LODGING

All hunters will be provided a bunk in the bunkhouse at the lodge on the ranch. If you prefer a more privacy, you may upgrade to a private room or a cabin.
